Santa Cruz de La Palma (EFE).- The Popular Party will promote in the Congress of Deputies a law of “major catastrophes” that adapts to the singularities of emergencies such as the volcanic eruption in La Palma, as confirmed by the president of the Cabildo La Palma, Mariano Hernández Zapata, after meeting with the president of his party, Alberto Núñez Feijoo.
Hernández Zapata recalled that his party has supported “all the decrees related to La Palma issued by the Government of Spain” for which he is confident that, when the processing of this Law begins in the Congress of Deputies, “we will also have the closed support of all political groups”.
In addition, as the president of the PP of the Canary Islands, Manuel Domínguez, has already advanced, Feijoo will visit La Palma during the month of February, a fact that the president of the Cabildo considers “excellent news” where he will learn about the state of the island 14 months after the end of the rash.
This Friday, January 20, a new mixed commission will be held in La Palma to deal with the reconstruction of the island, in which the Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, will participate, as well as representatives of all the local and regional administrations involved.
Hernández Zapata has indicated that the island administration has sent a letter to the Ministry of the Presidency in which they list the different requests related to reconstruction, such as greater financial support for local administrations or the management of funds from the “La Palma Renace” plan. ” by the Council.
According to the island president, “only 12 million have arrived from the Ministry of Territorial Policy for a Cabildo that has advanced more than 80”, since the ministry has transferred the reconstruction costs of the infrastructures affected by the volcano, although Hernández Zapata qualifies , “has not covered the costs of the works that do not go through the previous route”.
