Spain thus continues to lead the donation and transplant activity with the highest rates in the world, and increasingly close to those of 2019: 46.3 donors per million population (pmp) and 113.4 transplants pmp, according to the annual balance of the National Transplant Organization (ONT) presented this Thursday.
All the communities achieved “excellence”, but two far exceeded the national donor rate: Cantabria, with 82.8, and Navarra (71.2). Another five exceeded 50 -Extremadura, with 60; La Rioja (58.1), the Basque Country (56.4), Asturias (55) and the Canary Islands (54.8)-, stressed the general director of the ONT, Beatriz Domínguez-Gil, at a joint press conference with the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias.
