Logroño, (EFE).- The National Police have arrested a father and his son as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of attacking an agent of the authority or public official for assaulting a doctor from the Emergency Service of the University Hospital of San Pedro Logroño while he was consulting.
The detainees are two men of Spanish nationality, aged 61 and 35, residents of Logroño and with no criminal record, the Higher Police Headquarters reported this Thursday in a note.
The events occurred on January 10, around 9:00 p.m., when the victim was treating patients in the Emergency Department and heard “loud screams” from the adjoining office, so he went to see what was happening.
When going to the consultation, the doctor observed two men with their healthcare partner and the youngest of them, who had an IV in place, asked her “What’s wrong, do you want us to hit each other?” and the other man closed the office door on him.
However, the doctor was able to access the room again, this time with a security guard.
defiant attitude
Upon entering the office, the two men continued in a “defiant attitude” with the other doctor, for which their partner asked them to stop their activity and the younger man began to record him with his mobile phone.
The woman asked him to stop recording her, pushing his arm away, causing his mobile phone to fall to the ground and the man giving him a strong push, causing him to lose his balance, fall backwards and hit his head , for which he later had to be assisted.
A National Police patrol arrived at the hospital, upon receiving a request for help from health personnel from the center.
After the corresponding investigation, the agents have been able to determine that the alleged aggression originated after a discussion because the 35-year-old detainee had to be admitted to the hospital, but he told the health workers that he wanted discharge to leave the center.
The man yelled “either you take the tubes off or I’ll tear them off” to the doctor who was treating him, so his partner came to see what was happening.
A hundred people, including numerous health professionals, gathered last Friday, January 13, in front of the San Pedro de Logroño University Hospital convened by the La Rioja Medical Union (CESM) to reject the attacks suffered by these two doctors .
