Madrid (EFE).- The Carnival of Torrevieja parades alone this Wednesday between two of the nerve centers and busiest in Madrid, the squares of Callao and Puerta del Sol through Calle Preciados, on its way to get the declaration Festival of National Tourist Interest.
Within the framework of the Madrid International Tourism Fair (FITUR) and broadcast live on Televisión Torrevieja (TVT) and the Torrevieja City Council’s Facebook profile, a hundred people will challenge the intense cold in a parade from 5:00 p.m. marked by music and color.
The Torrevejense Carnival has been declared of Autonomous Tourist Interest and now wants to grow even more to be of National Tourist Interest because it is one of the most popular and massive festivals in the city of salt, in which 23 troupes and more currently participate than 1,500 people in the parades.
In statements to EFE in Fitur, the mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, explained that this promotional action seeks to demonstrate “the strength” of the city’s carnival and added that it will serve to swell the file that is being prepared to obtain the declaration of Interest National Tourist.
This is the first major event around carnival that has been scheduled in a year in which the definitive takeoff of carnival is sought as one of the most important festive events on the Costa Blanca and the Valencian Community.
Agreement with Madrid for the promotion of the Torrevieja Carnival
The parade has been organized based on a tourist and cultural collaboration agreement signed last year between the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez Almeida, and the mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, which provided for different promotional actions in the Spanish capital, including this parade organized by the town hall and the Torrevieja Carnival Cultural Association.
It will start at 5:00 p.m. in Plaza de Callao and will run through Calle Preciados ending at Puerta del Sol in what will be the first action related to the collaboration agreement between the Madrid and Torrevieja Departments of Tourism.
